AU09 Bachelor of Arts (Religion and Society) Macquarie University
Religions are systems of meaning that include ideas, symbols and practices. They are universal and found in every society. Religions may challenge or support sociopolitical arrangements, they may seek to address the existential condition of humans, or they may provide radically different ethics or ecstatic rules for us to live by. Many religions today are transnational, existing with their local colour in myriad countries around the world.
This major explores the complex relations between religions and social, cultural, legal and political changes in society, from ancient times to present. You’ll also explore the latest thoughts on issues of religion relating to person, self, gender, ethics, art, history, colonialism, race, security and international relations.
