The Graduate Certificate of Early Childhood offers an opportunity for students with an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent in a discipline other than Early Childhood Education, to qualify for entry into Macquarie's Masters programs in Early Childhood Education. As a postgraduate award graduates will be able to develop an understanding of contemporary research-based knowledge of early childhood principles and practice in selected areas.The Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood will provide an ENTRY for students from non-cognate backgrounds into the Master of Early Childhood.

Key Features

This award provides the foundational disciplinary and cognate knowledge for entry into the Master of Teaching (0-5) for those with a GPA of less than 4.0 out of 7.0.

Graduates will be able to teach in a variety of Australian and overseas English language teaching contexts, including:

• Australian Migrant English Program (AMEP)
• English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)
• Primary and secondary schools EAL/ESL programs (for qualified school teachers)
• Overseas language colleges for young, adolescent and adult learners
• Overseas schools as teacher assistants (requirements will vary by country)
• In private companies as language tutors in English for Specific Purposes programs.
