This specialisation will develop the skills of those who aspire to lead, or who have leadership roles, in primary or secondary schools. It begins by closely examining the nature of school educational systems and organisations, and the factors that shape the learning and teaching that occurs within them. Upon this foundation, you’ll develop specialist skills and knowledge, based on the most up-to-date international research, theory, principles and practices of educational leadership. The knowledge-management, critical-thinking and communication skills you’ll build, will serve to enhance the educational institution in which you work and the capacities of your professional community.

• You’ll examine the nature of educational systems and organisations, and the factors that shape the learning and teaching that occurs within them.
• Your lecturers are active researchers who will guide you to the most up-to-date international research, theories, principles and practices in education.
• A capstone unit will provide you with the opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills gained across all your subjects, and a research unit teaches you how to apply this in a rigorous and scholarly way to solve a substantive educational issue of your choice.
• This degree is available on campus, online or through a combination of both.
• Recognition of prior learning allows you to apply for up to four units of credit based on previous postgraduate studies, professional development and training, and work experience.
