Do you have a love of language and deep knowledge of more than one language? Are you meticulous? Do you have fantastic public speaking skills? If so, a career in translating and interpreting may be your calling.

If you're proficient in more than one language, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you'll require to perform translation and interpreting in a range of institutional settings common to community and commercial translation and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas.

• You'll undertake extensive targeted practice in both translation and interpreting, as well as specialisations in both fields.
• Computer-assisted translation tools embedded across this course will prepare you for the fast-changing marketplace.
• Practicum projects you'll undertake with our industry partners will allow you to work directly with clients in a variety of settings.
• We offer a variety of working languages in the degree. Our Chinese (Mandarin) stream is available in Session 1 and Session 2 intakes for full-time study. Our Korean, Japanese, and Spanish streams are available in Session 1 intake only. 

CERTIFICATION

The program is a NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) approved course for certification at professional and advanced translator and interpreter's level. This will prepare students for the NAATI certification testing.

Graduates will be well prepared to pursue a career as professional translators and interpreters in a range of settings including:

• community translation and interpreting (e.g. governments, courts, tribunals, police, clinics and hospitals),
• international conferences (primarily conference interpreting),
• business (e.g. business meetings, internal and external documents and contracts),
• industry products (e.g. manuals, localization),
• regional and international events (e.g. Olympics and Paralympics), broadcasting and publishing.
