The Graduate Diploma in Project Management is designed for professionals currently working or looking to work in the field of project management. It is particularly relevant for professionals looking to take the next step in their career.

The program will introduce you to practical tools to mitigate risk, design strong projects and lead successful teams – confidently and based on proven strategies.

RMIT’s Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Project Management will equip you with in-demand management and leadership skills that are essential to companies across all industries.

This program emphasises the practical application of theory to develop your capacity to respond to current and emerging issues and trends. You will critically engage with project management theory and best practice principles, and evaluate and implement project management strategies using real world project based cases and examples.

Choose a specialisation

You can choose from four streams, depending on what you would like to specialise in. All classes for these streams are held at the City Campus.

• Project management generalist stream (GD194) is designed to give you the tools, techniques and theories relevant to managing projects in a range of industries, including property and construction.
• Project management engineering stream (GC194EN) will give you practical and theoretical skills and knowledge to successfully manage engineering-based projects and workplaces.
• Project management information technology (IT) stream (GD194IT) will equip you with the tools you need to manage projects and people in agile projects, and in flexible workplaces and teams.
• Post disaster project management stream (GD194PDPM) is designed to give you the specialty tools and techniques to manage disaster relief and humanitarian efforts, as well as community development.

Career Outcomes

Upon graduation you will be able to perform a broad range of roles ranging from the conceptualisation and planning stages, through to project delivery and evaluation. You will be able to interpret issues, and confidently provide expert project management advice applicable to diverse industries. You will be experienced in team-based and individually led project management practice. Graduates are also encouraged to progress to the Master of Commerce.

Professional recognition and accreditation

Students of the Graduate Diploma in Project Management are eligible to apply for student membership of the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Project Management are eligible to apply for professional membership of the Project Management Institute.

Students and graduates are eligible to apply for Project Management Professional Certification (PMP).
