Through this double degree, you will develop a solid knowledge of the increasing reliance of science on computing and information technology in collecting, storing and analysing large volumes of data. The degree also covers computationally intensive simulations of new physical phenomena on supercomputers, visual exploration of large data sets, and informational retrieval and communication via the internet and data mining.
Core courses will introduce you to areas such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information systems, and computer programming.
You will undertake work-integrated learning to gain first-hand experience in developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to work in industry or to work in a team to analyse, develop and implement an effective solution to a computer-based information system or software development problem.

You will also find opportunities in information technology designing, writing, testing, documenting and maintaining computer applications and research or analytical and development work in commerce, health, industrial, mining and manufacturing companies and government departments.
