Graduates of this course can apply nursing knowledge and skills to public health areas such as Indigenous health, population health issues and risk factors for illness. Professionals who are skilled across these disciplines can choose to work as a nurse in the clinical environment or as a public health professional, implementing new ways to improve community health.
Graduates may also work in non-government and community organisations in roles that focus on advocacy for minority groups, or as consultants and project officers in international health agencies. Roles may include health promotion officers, school health educators, assistant epidemiologists, researchers, state and national health program managers and health policy officers.
Professional recognition
This course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Graduates are eligible to apply for registered nurse status with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Graduates are eligible for membership to the Public Health Association of Australia and the Australian Health Promotion Association.
