A variety of teaching methods will be used, including lectures, tutorials, practical training and directed self-learning. Case-based and problem-based learning will be used to emphasise patient focused practice. Clinical practice will start in second year and follow into the third year. Students will spend time in clinical settings such as hospitals and private practice. There will be opportunities for interested students to spend time in rural and remote areas of WA.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
DPM graduates will be eligible for registration as general podiatrists in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, parts of Canada without the need for any further preregistration training or compulsory internship.
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
The DPM is accredited by the Australia and New Zealand Podiatry Accreditation Council as an entry-to-practice qualification as a general podiatrist with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
