AU38 Master of Asian Studies The University of Western Australia
Graduates of the Master of Asian Studies will be able to demonstrate comprehensive awareness of the historical, cultural and political landscapes that shape and inform contemporary Asia. You'll acquire the skills to apply this understanding in your professional and personal engagements with the region. This course offers several specialisation possibilities to facilitate career development and professional opportunities in government, education, business and the NGO sector, as well as being attractive to international organisations. Students already based in Asia or who have significant Asia expertise can broaden their knowledge base by combining their degree with a specialisation in International Relations or Business at UWA. This course may be taken as a coursework master's or by coursework and dissertation.
Graduates with a good understanding of Asian cultures, societies and languages are in short supply. They have excellent employment prospects in Australia and in the rising economies of Asia, which include four of Australia’s top five trade partners. Many employers in Australia and Asia give priority to the employment of graduates with an Asia-related academic background. Prospective career paths include: arts and art management; banking and finance; consultancy and marketing; diplomacy, foreign affairs and politics; education; mining and resources; international organisations (including NGOs as well as corporations); journalism and media; intelligence analysis; and tourism.
