The Master of Translation Studies provides advanced translation training to develop your abilities to practise as a bilingual/multilingual professional.

Specialised translation training is available between English and Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish language pairs in both directions. Chinese interpreting is also available to students in combination with the English/Chinese language pair.

The course fosters critical thinking, linguistic and analytical skills through frontier translation theories and latest technologies as well as the opportunity for individual supervision of a translation research project. As a result of strong collaboration links with local and national professional organisations and agencies, students are offered practical skills development on a regular basis.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

UWA’s Master of Translation Studies students will graduate with a qualification relevant to professional employment in a range of business, government and non-government organisations in Australia and overseas. This course could lead to career opportunities as a: copywriter, advertising professional, foreign affairs and trade officer, bilingual professional, post-editor, terminologist or translator.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

The Master of Translation is endorsed by the National Accreditation Authority of Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) making students eligible to sit the NAATI test for Advanced Certified Translator or Certified Translator, upon completion of the Master, and with no other pre-requisites demanded by the accreditation body.
