  • THÔNG TIN CHUNG

You’re a law graduate with ambitions to work as a solicitor. You want to enhance your legal knowledge and gain hands-on experience, backed up by professional careers advice.

ARU is the only university in East Anglia to offer the Legal Practice Course, which is designed for Law graduates who want to pursue a career as a solicitor.

It’s flexible, so you can fit your studies around other commitments with two days on campus every week and i-lectures that you can access remotely.

What’s more, you’ll have access to the latest careers advice thanks to our network of affiliated law practitioners.

On our PG Dip Legal Practice Course, you’ll explore civil litigation and dispute resolution, criminal law, property law and business law. Meanwhile our optional modules allow you to focus on areas of law that are of particular interest to you, tailoring your learning to create your ideal postgraduate experience.

You’ll typically spend two days a week on campus in Cambridge, with access to a range of facilities including our mock courtroom. It’s the perfect place to practice advocacy in a realistic setting and enhance your legal skills.

You can boost your employability even further by volunteering at our Law Clinic in Cambridge, helping members of the public with legal advice.

We know that your future career is important to you, and so we offer support throughout your studies – starting with the transition from undergraduate study to the Legal Practice Course, and onwards to training contracts and employment.

  • CƠ HỘI NGHỀ NGHIỆP

Our Legal Practice Course will prepare you for life as a practising solicitor in England or Wales. When you graduate, you’ll be ready to continue on to the two-year training contract that will fully qualify you for professional practice*.

You’ll most likely choose to complete your two-year training contract with a firm of solicitors in private practice, but might prefer to take one with an alternative employer, such as the UK Government (through the Government Legal Service), local government, the Crown Prosecution Service or a law centre.

Whatever you decide, you can be sure of receiving specialised guidance for your career in law, through our links with practitioners. We’ll also keep you up to date on vacancies in the legal job market.

Graduation doesn’t have to be the end of your time with us. You could choose to continue your academic career with a Masters or research programme at ARU.

*Unless you have a FILEX qualification and exemption from the SRA.
